This handbook is meant to be your guide to our policies and procedures. It outlines what you can expect from us as well as what we expect from you in return.
Nobody knows a child better than his/her parents; however, since we are with your child for a substantial part of the day, it is imperative that we work together.
We strive to provide the best care possible for your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Philosophy of the School
Character training is one of the supreme goals of Christian education, God says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6). Children must be faithfully trained in love, line upon line, precept upon precept, day after day.
Therefore, we value a quality education that serves as catalyst in helping children reach their learning potential. Our goal is to provide licensed teachers who care, inspire and motivate students to learn. We also seek to provide a solid curriculum that is proven to be effective in helping children master the fundamentals of learning.
The mission of Noah's Ark is to assist parents in training their children to become more Christ-like in character, and assist the child in reaching his/her potential in all areas of development (spiritual, academic, emotional, social, and physical) so that the child will reflect and proclaim God in our society.
Our priority is to seek for ways to serve the community and to instill a Christian influence among the children we minister. Our school reserves the right to establish guidelines and policies that serve to meet the best interest of the child's overall development and needs.
Application Process for Students
The following must be completed, signed and on file prior to admission:
Reserving a Space
A space in a class will be reserved only if the non-refundable. Registration Fee and Curriculum and Supplies fee are paid. If we are not able to open a class for your child, your Registration Fee and Curriculum and Supply fee will be refunded.
Registration Fee, Curriculum and Supply Fee, one month tuition and tuition deposit, if applicable, are due for immediate enrollment.
Tuition and Fees
Noah's Ark strives to keep all fees as reasonable as possible and still maintain a high standard in the quality of education we give to our students. It is important that all fees are paid when due so we can remain current on all bills and salaries to our staff.
There are two enrollment periods in a calendar year:
Registration and Curriculum and Supplies fees are assessed for each enrollment period and must be paid in order to ensure your child's placement in the school.
No tuition credit or deduction will be given to
your account for your
vacation or other absences
Registration fees cover the costs of processing your child's admission and are non-refundable. Students who voluntarily terminate(absent for two consecutive weeks without payment and without written notice)during the year will be required to re-enroll and re-register.
Curriculum and Supply Fees
The curriculum and supply fees are varied and are determined according your child's age and classroom needs. These fees are non-refundable and due at time of enrollment.
Payment of Tuition and Fees
Payment is accepted monthly. Paying monthly is not paying for a particular time period. It is an opportunity to make a monthly installment towards the annual tuition fee. For your convenience, we have divided our annual tuition into 10 monthly installments. These installments begin on the first of August and end in May of every school year.
Unfortunately, due to the high fees credit card companies charge us for their use, we will only accept checks, money orders and cash.
Tuition for children who enroll after the beginning of the school year will be prorated based on the annual tuition.
If payment is not received by the 5th of the month, a $35.00 Late Fee will be charged to your account. Your account will be considered delinquent when the amount outstanding plus the current monthly tuition payment are not received by its due date. This will result in your child's dismissal from Noah's Ark Academy. A reinstatement fee of $100.00 will be assessed to re-enroll your child.
Tax Statements will be provided to all currently enrolled children upon request. A $5.00 charge will be applied for additional copies.
There will be a charge of $35.00 for every returned check. If during any given time of one school session there are two returned checks, you will be required to pay future tuition payments and service charges with a cashier check, cash, or money order. A receipt will be issued for your record of payment.
Parents are requested to be very prompt in picking up their children. It is extremely important that you sign your child out and write the time you picked him/her up. A clock is available in the front for your convenience. Our teachers keep a log of the time each child is dismissed. In case of a discrepancy, our time clock check out time will prevail. A courtesy call is always appreciated if you are late for some unforeseen circumstance. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged for the time after 6:00pm This fee is to be paid in cash at the time the child is picked up. If the parent is over 30 minutes late without notice to Noah's Ark, the emergency contact person will be called to pick up your child. If contact is not successful, our director/assistant director will contact the Department of Family and Child Protective Services. Continual late pick up for your child may result in discontinuation of services.
Extended Care: 6:30am-9:00am/3:00pm-6:00pm
Parents may choose to enroll their child in the morning and/or afternoon extended care program. Only children enrolled in the Extended Care Program may receive the special Extended Care monthly rates. However, if the need arises for additional child care from time to time, an additional charge of $5.00 for every 30 minutes will be added to your account. Payment is due at the time of service.
No credit or refund will be given to the account of children who benefit from our extended care rates for services not used. Parents may choose to withdraw from the extended care program for a particular month or part of a month, however, it will count as a “change of status”(limited to once per semester at no charge). If done more than once in a semester, the change of status will result in an administration fee of $25.00 and a re-enrollment fee of $30.00 if extended care is needed within the semester of the child’s withdrawal from extended care hours.
Parents may choose to enroll their child in sibling morning care (8:00am-9:00am) at $30.00 per month if his/her older sibling is in Pre-kindergarten or upper classes.
A discount on extended care service is given to students enrolled in the extended day program whose parents are teachers. The cost is determined by the number of hours needed. Parents will be told what the rate will be at the time they inform us how many hours of extended care they need. A valid teacher's ID must be presented in order to receive our teacher's extended care rates.
To maintain consistency and quality in our educational program, the following policies must be carried out. No credits are given if your child is absent. A classroom space has been reserved just for your child. The daily cost of holiday closing, i.e. Christmas and Spring Break Holidays, was already discounted from your annual tuition. In other words, your annual tuition is based on the actual school days your child is in school. If your child is absent for two consecutive weeks without payment or proper notice to the office, he/she will be considered withdrawn and his/her space will be offered to another child. If you choose to re-enroll your child, depending on space availability, a new registration fee will be required. Written notice by a Parent/Guardian is required for all students who are absent 3 or more consecutive days. A written doctor's excuse is required if a student has been sick for more than 5 consecutive days.
Arrival and Release Procedure§746.501(2)
Parents/Guardians must sign children in and out of the school premises. The sign in/out log is located in the front office. It is imperative that parents and guardians cooperate be taking a few seconds to accomplish this as this document is the first one grabbed by the person in charge in case of a emergency evacuation.
A $25.00 charge will be added to your account for failure to sign in and out.
Dropping off your child
Please accompany him/her to his/her classroom where he/she will be greeted. The teacher will acknowledge your child's arrival and you may leave the school grounds.
Please bring your child to class on time, so that he/she receives the full benefit and continuity of the school program. If the class is already engaged in a class activity, please minimize the disturbance when dropping off your child.
Picking up your child
All the children will be in the multipurpose room from 3:00pm-3:15 waiting to be picked up by their parent or guardian. After 3:15pm the children will return to their classroom, late pick up fees apply and must be paid at this time.
If you are early, please wait for your child in the multipurpose room(the multipurpose room is located in front of the school and it is where your child eats lunch and snacks every day). Make sure you have listed in the enrollment form at least three persons over 18 years old you authorize Noah's Ark Academy to release your child in case you cannot pick him/her up. The list must include name and telephone number. If the same persons are your emergency contacts, please include their address as this is a licensing requirement.
When a parent needs to designate another person not listed on the enrollment form to pick up their child, during or after school, a written notice verifying the change is required. In case of an emergency situation, parents must call the school office to inform school authority the name and telephone number of the person you have designated to pick up the child. Proper picture ID is required for Noah's Ark Academy to release a child to anyone who is not the parent of the child. It is the parent's responsibility to notify the designee that a photo identification must be presented before the child is released.
COVID 19 Procedure for drop off and pick up
Until futher notice, the following pick up and drop off procedures to protect our children and staff will be enforced:
In the morning your child will be greeted by one of our staff members at the frontdoor. The parent will proceed to sign him/her in. His/her temperature will be checked and if your child is older than 3 years old, a mask will be requested.
In the afternoon, as soon as a staff member see you at the front door, she will provide you with the sign in and out sheet so that you can sign out your child. She will proceed to get your child and his/her belongings and bring it to you at the front door.
Thank you for your cooperation in these uncertain times of COVID 19. We will notify you when these measures are no longer necessary.
Tardiness counts and shows in the report card for children in levels Pre-K through 1st grade. Their academic day begins at 8:00am. We encourage the parents of these children to bring them to school on time. Children who are constantly late, miss out on their early morning lesson and spend "fun time" catching up with their peers who came to school on time.
A thirty day written notice must be given to the school office in the event of long term absence or withdrawal from our school. Tuition for the month of withdrawal will not be refunded. All other paid tuition will only be refunded with proper written notice. No record will be sent to the new school until all fees and fines are paid.
Re-enrollment after withdrawal
Once a child is withdrawn from Noah's Ark Academy, his/her space becomes open to the public. If re-enrollment to Noah's Ark Academy is desired and space is available, a new enrollment fee will be assessed. Noah's Ark Academy will not guarantee a space for a child that has been withdrawn from the school.
Change of Status
Changes to the program chosen for your child require a parent to complete a Change of Status Form. Tuition and fees will be prorated upon approval. If you intend to change your child''s program, into lesser days at school, a two weeks notice is required.
Parents must also complete a Change of Status Form for changes in telephone numbers, addresses, emergency contact persons and/or persons authorized to pick up the child.
You can change your child's schedule at Noah's Ark Academy once a semester, free of charge. If changed more than once, to a lesser status, a $30.00 fee will apply for each occurrence.
Noah's Ark is committed to protect all children under our care. Evidence of custody must be presented of the child does not live with both natural parents. A copy of the custody decree will be kept in the child's file. Both parents are allowed to visit their child at school unless legal documentation is provided to the school by the custodial parent indicating otherwise.
Visiting the School §746.501(18)
Noah's Ark has an open door policy. All parents are welcome to visit and observe our classroom at anytime. During this visitation, we ask that parents remain as inconspicuous as possible to avoid any disruption. We also ask that you limit your visits to ten minutes. Parents Must sign in at the office prior to each visit and receive visitors pass for security purpose. To help limit class interruptions, please save all questions until you return to the office. In the event a nursing mom visits our school with her infant, a suitable place will be provided for nursing her infant.
Note: If you need to speak to the teacher, please do so when she does not have any children in her care. Please understand that children cannot be left unattended at anytime.

Parents are always welcome to set up an appointment to discuss with the director any concerns they might have about policies and procedures followed at Noah's Ark Academy. Financial or billing concerns are best answered by our Assistant Director/Administrator.
Procedure for Major Emergency §746.501(5)
Noah's Ark Academy will immediately call 911 and then notify the parent or appointed guardian in case of a major emergency. At this time, you will be notified if the child can be picked up at the school or needs to be transported to a hospital facility. If a hospital facility is required, its name and location of the facility will be provided at this time. A member of our administration staff will accompany the child at all times until the next of kin arrives. If the school is unable to contact you, the school will take proper action as deemed necessary. Parents will assume full responsibility for any medical service fees rendered.
Emergency Preparedness Plan §746.5201
A written emergency/disaster plan has been designed to ensure the safety of our children in care. It addresses the staff's responsibility and Noah's Ark Academy's readiness with respect to evacuation and relocation.
A. Tornadoes and Hurricanes- Each teacher will gather her children in care and calmly go to Pre-K and Pre-School Rooms as they are the safest locations of the building.
B. Flood- Noah's ark Academy will contact the Fire Department or 911 and relocate the children to the 2nd floor of our building. Address: 3527 Hwy 6, Sugar Land, TX. 77478 (281) 265-6677. NAA administrators will be responsible for contacting parents and instruct them of when is safe to pick up their children.
C. Fire- 911 will be notified immediately. The children will be removed from the premises immediately and transported by foot to Los Gallitos Restaurant (manager-Eliazar) located at 3385 Highway 6, Sugar Land, TX. (281)313-1401.
D. Medical Emergency- 911 will be contacted immediately and children will be transported to the nearest medical facility. In our case is:

Emergency Preparedness Plan §746.5202
Mobile Children (12-24 months)Administration will assist in walking the children to join the rest of the school in the appropriate places as mentioned in 746.5201.
Non-walking children (6 to 11 months old) will be wheeled out in a crib to meet the other students.
Young Infants (under 6 months) will be carried or wheeled out in cribs to their emergency destination.
A member of our staff will clean, apply an antiseptic ointment (if necessary for scratches and cuts) and cover the affected area. Parents will be notified via telephone call or an incident report will be filled and signed by the parent as a sign of acknowledgement. This incident report will be kept on the child's file and a copy will be given to the parent.
Parents may not bring sick children to school if he or she has:
Parents will be notified to pick up their child if he/she has any of the above symptoms. For the health and safety of all of our students and staff, Noah's Ark Academy will strictly enforce these policies.
Contagious or Infectious Disease
We will notify you if your child is exposed to a communicable or infectious disease while in school. We ask that you inform us when your child has been exposed to a communicable or infectious disease outside the school.
Re-Admission to School after an Illness
1. Children must be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours and show no signs of contagious illness.
2. Children who have been exposed to or have contracted serious communicable or infectious diseases ( including pink eye and head lice) must get permission from the doctor before returning to school.
State licensing regulations require that only prescribed medication labeled with the child's name and written instructions by the child's physician be administered at school. Parents must sign a request/authorization form in the administration office before a Noah's Ark Academy staff member can administer your child's medication. It is the school policy that no medication (including Tylenol, cough syrup, orajel, anti-itch cream, insect repellent, etc) will be administered by our staff without written permission from the child's parents. All medication must be provided in the original container and labeled with the child's name, name of doctor, prescription number, date and dispensing instructions. All medication must be registered in the front office and will be kept in a secure area or refrigerator as needed. No medication is to be kept in the child's tote bag or in the classroom.
Health Requirements & Immunization
By state law every child must have a current immunization record showing adequate protection against several diseases before entering the school. It is our school policy for the benefit of our students, that no student may start school unless we have an adequate immunization record on file. No child with a communicable disease is permitted to attend Noah's Ark Academy.
Vision and Hearing Screening
The Special Senses and Communication Disorders Act, Texas health and Safety Code, Chapter 36, requires that each year, all students four years old and older, be screened for vision and hearing.
Your pediatrician or a speech pathologist may provide this service. In this case, a written report of the results is required in your child's file and a pass or fail count is reported to the Texas Department of Health State Services. Parents of children who do not get screened by either the pediatrician nor the speech pathologist must fill out an affidavit stating that the vision or hearing screening conflicts with the tenets or practices of a church or religious denomination to which the family belongs.
Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect
Our staff receives hours of training to learn warning signals and methods to prevent child abuse and neglect. Noah's Ark Academy staff must and will alert all appropriate local and state agencies of any suspected abuse or neglect of any child attending our school. Noah's Ark Academy officials will develop strategies for coordination between our school and the appropriate community organizations to direct parents of children who are victims, to actions they should take to obtain assistance and intervention as required by law.
Procedures for Fire and Weather Emergencies
Fire and tornado drills are held monthly to acquaint your child and our staff with emergency procedures. A detailed evacuation plan is posted in each classroom. In case of an evacuation, you will be notified of the location as soon as humanly possible.
Weather or other emergency condition that warrants Fort Bend ISD to be closed will also warrant Noah's Ark Academy to be closed.
At Noah's Ark Academy we have your child's best interest at heart. We send home a monthly menu which includes a hot lunch, fruit or vegetable and milk. The lunches are purchased from local restaurants. Menus are based on foods we have seen children enjoy. The process is simple. Parents circle the days in the calendar they believe their child will enjoy, pay $3.25 per lunch and return the calendar with the payment. The rest is up to us. It's that simple!
Parents who do not wish to purchase our lunches are free to provide their own. Noah's Ark Academy staff does not heat or refrigerate foods for the children. A thermos or an ice pack keeps their foods at the proper temperature until lunch time. It is the parents responsibility to provide their child's food at the temperature they want their child to consume it.
Noah's Ark Academy is not responsible for the nutritional content of foods provided by parents for their children.
All parents must provide two snacks and a sippy cup or bottled water.
Each child must bring a change of clothes. This change of clothes should include shoes and extra socks. All clothing should be labeled with your child's name. The school will not be responsible for clothing that is lost or damaged. Dress you child for action. Have your child wear soft-soled or tennis shoes. Sandals are not permitted for safety reasons (Toes can be injured during play).
No Crocks, please!!!
All students Early Preschool through Kindergarten are required to come to school wearing their school uniform each day. If your child is not in his/her uniform, a Noah's Ark T-shirt will be facilitated and a rental fee of $2.00 per day will be charged to your account. After the third dress code violation, a new shirt will be provided and its cost will be added to your account.
Top: T-Shirts with school logo (Purchased at the school)
Bottom: Plain, solid color (long pants, medium length shorts, skirts,
jumpers and skorts). No dresses or fancy skirts or tutus. Solid color jeans(not
ripped, no design).
Personal Belongings and Toys
Children are not allowed to bring candy, gum any kind of toy, pet or money(unless specifically requested and permission is granted)to the school. Nap mats, lunch bags, food containers, sheets, pillows and blankets as well as favorite stuffed animal to take a nap, should be labeled with your child's name. Noah's Ark will not be responsible for any personal belongings that are lost or damaged.
Please label all your child's belongings!
A report card will be issued every nine weeks to children 18 months and older during the academic school year. Parents are required to review, sign and return the report card to the teacher. Opportunities for parent/teacher conferences are offered throughout the school year. A report card will not be given to a child whose account is not current. Noah's Ark Academy reserves the right to withhold a student's report card or any information to outside institutions until the account is fully paid. There will be a charge of $8.00 for every lost report card.
Student's Take Home folder
Toddler 2, Early Preschool - Each young student has a folder posted on the wall leading to their classroom. Their daily work will be placed in their folder for parents to pick up.
Pre-school, Pre-K, K
A student's take home folder is sent home every Friday for parents to see their child's weekly achievement. Parents are asked to keep the class work and give positive comments to their children if they have done their work. The folder must be returned to the teacher the following school day.
Pre-school, Pre-K, K
Your child will receive homework every day. The homework is a review of the material covered in the classroom that day. Your child's teacher has taught and reviewed the material with the class. Their work will be graded and counted in their report card. Please do not do the homework for your child.
The school's chapel service provides a time to celebrate Christian faith and grow spiritually. Chapel provides an opportunity to share songs, devotions and bible stories. All students and teachers participate in weekly chapel service on Wednesday mornings. Parents are welcome.
Students celebrating birthdays may treat their classmates during the afternoon snack time. Treats are limited to single servings of store bought fruit, cookies, cupcakes, cake or donuts and a drink. Teachers should be notified one week in advance.
In the event that your child consistently misbehaves, a conference between parent and teacher
will be arranged to communicate the exact problem. If the discipline problem persists or if the problem is major (fighting, biting or uncontrolled behavior), suspension from school may be considered.
As a last resort, if the problem is not corrected, withdrawal from our school may be
considered. In this case, there will be no credit issued to your account.

Noah's Ark Academy is licensed to care for children 6 weeks to 17 months. Our infants are classified as Infants(1-11 months) and Toddler 1(12-17 months). Infants are fed at appropriate intervals based on their signals to our staff that they are hungry or on the feeding schedule provided to Noah's Ark Academy by the parents(whichever comes first).
Older infants who eat table foods, follow a snack and meal schedule. Routines such as diapering, eating and napping take place throughout the day in order to meet each child's needs.
Opportunities for both fine and gross motor skill growth are the focus of our infant's daily activities. Infants will have supervised time and space to practice lifting holding up their heads. sitting and rolling over. Toddler 1's will have opportunities to learn to stand, walk when led, play with age appropriate toys and throw a ball. To help develop their fine motor skills, opportunities to reach, grasp, color and turn pages are presented. Experiences using their senses, music and language are part of our infant stimulation program.
Parents must provide:
1. A pack of disposable diapers to last approximately one week.
2. One box of baby wipes
3. Formula as well as breast milk. Milk must be in bottles with lids and mixed.
4. At least two complete changes of clothes
5. Baby Food. Please label all jars, cereal boxes, snacks and containers.
6. Provide their food in single servings in closed containers.
7. A pacifier, if needed. If your child uses one, please send an extra one to keep at
8. A sleep sack (licensing does not allow blankets to cover infants).

Licensing requirements for Infants
§746.2411 Full size, non-full size portable or mesh side cribs are allowed to be used as sleeping area for infants.
§746.2427 Infants must be placed on their back if they are unable to roll over while they are in the crib. A written notice from a doctor or nurse is needed addressed to Noah's Ark Academy if your child requires a different sleeping position due to any medical condition.
§746.2428 Infants must not be swaddled at any time while in child care.
§746.2419 Feeding instructions form must be updated every 30 days. A form for this purpose is provided by your child's teacher.
§746.3803 Medication cannot be administered unless Noah's Ark Academy receives a dated note on letterhead paper. The note must contain the child's full name, date of birth and specific instruction.
§746.2415 Blankets and stuffed animals, pillows are not allowed for children younger than 12 months.

Parent Involvement Opportunities
Noah's Ark has a Room Parent Program to allow parents to team up with a classroom teacher to assist the classroom teacher in coordinating class parties and other special events with other parents.
Our school is licensed under Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services(TDPRS), We are governed by The Minimum Standards for Licensed Child-Care Centers. Licensing representatives inspects our center annually to evaluate us. Parents may review a copy of the Minimum Standards and a copy of the Licensing Inspection Report at the school office.
